From July 2026 public new builds must reach Energy Grade 1: how to prepare at design stage
Building energy grades are now a permit and acceptance threshold. The earlier the grade is calculated, the cheaper the rework.
From July 2026, public new buildings in Taiwan must reach Building Energy Grade 1 or 1+. The grade is not something to handle before acceptance; the later it is adjusted, the more it costs.
We recommend comparing HVAC options with AirCore annual simulation at schematic design, calculating EEWH, BERS and LEBR in parallel, so the design team knows the grade and feasible strategies before submission. The real threshold is often stricter than the code: Req < 13% is required, but EEV ≥ 0.2 works back to about 11.80%.
